Using iDEA for DofE Skills Section

• It doesn’t matter which level iDEA badges you’re completing, or how many you do, what is important is that the leader agrees on the Skill activity and can verify that you have spent enough time doing it on a regular basis.

• For the Bronze DofE Award, participants need to spend 3 months on a skill for their Skills section, this means that if a learner is using iDEA regularly over a 3 month period that this would count. For example, they have attended an after-school iDEA Club for 1 hour each week for 3 months, the person running the iDEA Club could confirm their attendance.

• For the Silver DofE Award, participants need to spend 3 or 6 months on a skill for their Skills section (depending on whether or not they have previously done their Bronze Award), this means that if a learner is using iDEA regularly over a 3 or 6 month period that this would count and they could continue using iDEA as their Skill, even if they had already done it for their Bronze DofE.
